We believe that the next step in copying will be made from digital form into physical form. It will be physical objects. Or as we decided to call them: Physibles. Data objects that are able (and feasible) to become physical. We believe that things like three dimensional printers, scanners and such are just the first step. We believe that in the nearby future you will print your spare sparts for your vehicles. You will download your sneakers within 20 years. »

The Pirate Bay now lets you download physical objects  (via courtenaybird)

Despite having read the Wikipedia article, I still can’t really get my head around 3D printing. That, however, doesn’t mean I’m not certain this shit is about to get real.

Well, technically speaking it is actually real already, but what I mean is that I’m sure it won’t be too long (maybe five years?) until 3D printing operations start to pop up in garages and basements across the world, letting people build their own spare parts, tools, clothing items, furniture, sculptures, you name it!

This will have humongous ramifications for manufacturing industries across the world, and may even shift the balance of world trade as everyday products (not to mention ubiquitous knock-offs and copies) are produced locally and on-demand almost instantaneously.

Seriously people, THE FUTURE IS NOW.
